South Molle Island Visitor Information

Location and Climate

Situated on the Central Coast of Queensland Australia, the Whitsundays is about 1000 km North of Brisbane and 600 km South of Cairns. At 20.4 degrees South and 148.5 degrees East the region shares a latitude with Mauritius, Tahiti, New Caledonia and Rio de Janeiro. Average Daily temperatures in this tropical climate are 27 degrees Celsius. The coolest month is July averaging 23 degrees and the hottest is January at 30 degrees. Temperature in the water averages at 25 degrees year round.

Getting There

Air: Regular scheduled domestic services arrive and depart at two airports. Hamilton Island (Great Barrier Reef Airport) and Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast Airport).

• Hamilton Island Airport: Cruise Whitsundays’ vessels depart from the jetty at the airport just 100m from Check In. You’ll cruise either direct to South Molle or cruise via Daydream Island Resort & Spa or Long Island.
• Proserpine Airport: All arriving passengers are met at the Airport then transferred by coach to Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach for the ferry to South Molle Island. You’ll cruise direct or via Daydream Island. All departing passengers are met from the ferry at Abel Point Marina, Airlie Beach and transferred to Proserpine Airport. Coach times advised at time of booking.

Rail: Regular Queensland Rail services connect Proserpine with Australia’s capital cities and other major centers. Busses will meet trains to transfer to Abel Point Marina.

Coach: Australia’s leading coach and coach tour companies operate multiple daily services between most major cities and the Whitsundays.

Road: The Bruce Highway, part of Australia’s primary national network, passes through the Whitsundays at Proserpine, 26 km inland from Airlie Beach. Follow the Signs to Airlie Beach.

Check Out

Time is 9:00am. Please leave your labelled luggage outside your room at 9.00am or one hour prior to your departure if earlier enabling the Porters enough time to deliver to your boat transfer. Upon vacating your room, please return your room key, charge cards and finalise your account at Reception.

Eftpos/Credit Cards

Reception accepts all major credit cards. An EFTPOS facility is available at Reception until 6.00pm and at the Discovery Bar thereafter. Daily withdrawal limits do apply.

Gift Shop

The Gift Shop is open from 8.00am to 4.00pm (Subject to change). It offers a range of souvenirs, clothing, newsagency items, and toiletries.

Guest Laundry

Open until 11.00pm, the Guest Laundry is located near the Golf Course just down from the Golf Bar. Washing Powder is available from Reception or the Gift Shop.

Safety Deposit Boxes

These are available from Reception free of charge. It is always advisable to deposit any valuables you have with you on your holiday.

Stamps and Mailbox

Postage stamps are available from Reception and the Gift Shop. A mail slot is located in the desk at Reception.

Travellers Cheques

Traveller’s cheques in Australian currency can be exchanged at Reception.
